Case Studies

Some examples of recent and current work include:

Intec Ltd

We were successful in securing funding through the very competitive Phase 1 of the ‘Low Carbon Building Programme’ for Intec (UK) Ltd and JobsGroup.net  to install a 15kW wind turbine at their new ‘sustainable’ business premises at Morecambe (www.jobsgroup.net).
Elizabeth Bruce Associates can help identify local, regional and national funding opportunities for your project and working alongside you develop a potential funding package for your project.  In addition we can help write the applications to ensure you include all the right funding ‘jargon’ in your applications.

Elizabeth Bruce & CLAREN

Setting up Elizabeth Bruce Associates has been a natural progression from the delivery of CLAREN (Cumbria and Lancashire Community Renewables) which came to an end in 2007.  CLAREN worked with communities across Cumbria and Lancashire to assist in the deployment of renewable energy technologies and it is here that much of the expertise has been developed.

Some examples of projects up and running include:

St Gregory and St Patricks school, Whitehaven, Cumbria

Elizabeth Bruce worked with this school over a long period of time assisting in the deployment of a range of technologies including wind energy, solar water heating, ground source heat pumps and solar photovoltaics.  As part of the schools ‘green flag’ Eco schools status and the headmasters commitments to reducing the carbon footprint of the school Elizabeth Bruce has assisted with options appraisal, funding, identifying contractors and planning issues.  This project and hence the support provided has evolved over time in response to the changing needs of the school.

Grayrigg Coronation Hall, Near Kendal, Cumbria

Elizabeth Bruce has supported many community groups across both Cumbria and Lancashire in the deployment of on site renewable energy technologies in community buildings. As part of the refurbishment of their local coronation hall the community at Grayrigg wanted to look at sustainable energy options for their hall.  Measures installed have included improved energy efficiency, air source heat pump linked to underfloor heating and solar photovoltaic to offset the running cost of the pump.

Elizabeth Bruce has worked alongside this community in partnership with other organisations including Cumbria County Council and Voluntary action Cumbria to support the community.  Support has included options appraisal, identifying funding opportunities and support with identifying local contractors. These projects offer communities sustainable buildings which are both environmentally friendly but economically sustainable.
